Blak Power Comix is proud to be partnering with the iconic Barunga Festival

 to host our NORTHERN TERRITORY ART COMPETITION to celebrating new and emerging artists inspired by comics, anime, manga, and contemporary Indigenous art. 

 

This competition is open to all Northern Territory based First Nations artists who are creating original illustrations, comic art or anime designs that showcase their creativity, culture, imagination, and identity.

All styles welcome. Youth & Open categories available.

PRIZES & EXHIBITION

• A share in a $1,000 Prize Pool sponsored by Blak Power Comix

• Publication of your artwork in Blak Power Comix  #2.

• A chance to have your art exhibited at our Barunga Festival Pop-Up Exhibition.

MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

The winning entrants will also have the opportunity to participate in mentorship with experienced comic creators who can help develop your skills and create an original new comic!

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK

​

ENTRY IS OPEN TO NORTHERN TERRITORY BASED FIRST NATIONS ARTISTS 

​

• Youth (Under 18): For young emerging artists ready to share their creativity.

• Open (18+): For emerging and established artists.

• Artists submitting original artwork and illustration inspired by comics, manga, and anime.

• All styles and skill levels are welcome and encouraged.
   

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUBMIT:

• Your Artist Name, Date of Birth, and Contact Info (Email and Phone).

• Confirmation of whether you are Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander.

• The Title of your artwork and an upload of your file.

• A short description of the piece and what your inspiration was for making it.

• Your social media account handles so we can see more of your art.

You are allowed to submit up to FIVE pieces

and ENTRY IS FREE!
