Dylan Mooney is a Yuwi man from Mackay, Queensland, Torres Strait Islander from Darnley Island and Australian-born South Sea Islander. His practice includes digital illustration, drawing, printmaking and street art inspired by history, culture, family and community stories. Jonathon Saunders had a chance to chat with Dylan about his art practise and career.

Scott Wilson is a proud Gooniyandi and Gajerrong man, raised on Yawuru/Djugun Country in Broome, Western Australia.
Scott is the co-founder and writer behind INDIGIVERSE, Australia's first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander superhero universe featuring DARK HEART, DREAMWALKER and more proudly published by Gestalt Comics.

JONATHON SAUNDERS
Creator of THE COCKATOO
Jonathon Saunders is a Darwin-based illustrator, animator, and proud Woppaburra man from the Kanomie clan of Great Keppel Island. He is the creator of the award-winning animated web series Zero-Point: Season Zero and is co-founder of WILD NORTH COMICS.
John is both Editor-In-Chief of Blak Power Comix and also contributor of THE COCKATOO which is a spinoff character introduced in his graphic novel ZERO POINT: ORIGINS.
BRENTON E. MCKENNA
Creator of HAIRY HOLES
Yawuru artist Brenton E. McKenna is a leading First Nations graphic novelist from Broome, WA.
Creator of the iconic Ubby’s Underdogs trilogy, he was Australia’s first published Indigenous graphic novelist. His work blends culture, humour, and imagination, while his comics, workshops, and stories inspire young people through creativity, literacy, and storytelling.

Welcome to the first issue of Blak Power comics!
As a kid, I grew up reading comics with my spare change from the shops leading me to eventually make my own comics. But when we started doing workshops in remote communities across the Territory, I began to realise that many kids didn’t have the same access to comics as kids in the city. in fact no one has easy access to any reading material at all!
In this anthology, you’ll find black voiceS from all around the country. we want to lift up first nation culture, and tell stories with fun and imagination.
Every issue of Blak Power Comix will feature a mixture of action-packed adventures and stories inspired by history, dreaming, real experiences bleading Indigenous artists and writers from across this beautiful land.
That’s why Blak Power Comix exists. We want to make sure that young mob everywhere can pick up a book and see themselves reflected in the stories as the heroes, no matter where you live.
So if you’re holding this in your hands, then we at Wild North Arts did our job. We got this book into the hands of you mob — the next generation of storytellers, artists, jokers, warriors and dreamers! And if you’re inspired to make comics and tells stories yourself, we want to see your work!
